Multiple Teams · Girls Win Lake Murray Invitational; Boys Take Third

The Lexington Lady Wildcats ran away from a deep and talented field to win the Lake Murray Invitational.  Senior Sarae Rufener was 1st in a field of 162 competitors with a time of 19:04.  Eighth grader Lydia Metz took 3rd place in 19:19.  Lexington easily outdistanced the second place team, Riverside, by 58 points.

In the boy’s race, the Wildcat’s top runner, Zander Jeffcoat was unable to finish due to an injury and will likely be sidelined for a few weeks.  junior Owen Harries took the top spot for Lexington with an overall 6th place finish, crossing the line in 15:57.  The boys ended up in 3rd of 25 teams behind just Spartanburg and Greer.

Both teams will race again next Saturday, the 26th, at the Dorman Invitational.
