Girls Varsity Softball · Ladies to Host Lower State Final After Blowout Win!


This Friday, the Lady Wildcats will host the 5A Lower State Final, needing just 1 win in a possible 2 games to advance to the state championship series that begins Monday, May 13.

Lexington’s dominating offense was on full display as they scored 20 runs on 23 hits at South Florence in playoff action.  The game was never in doubt as they plated 9 runs in the 1st inning on 7 hits and another 7 runs in the 2nd inning on 8 hits.  Hannah Kumiyama crossed first for the Wildcats on a solo HR.  Later in the opening inning, Ashley Causey hit a 3-run long ball.

Allie Light notched the win, pitching 3 innings and surrendering just 1 earned run while striking out 5.

With the win, Lexington improved their season mark to 23-3.  The Cats last won a softball state championship in 2001.
