The Lower State individual wrestling tournament was a big success for the Wildcats. The season has come to an end for the underclassmen. They each won at least 1 match in the tournament. All season long, Lexington has started 8 underclassmen. Led by Brady Leaphart and followed by freshmen Noah Boozer, Michael Bart, Zack Couture, Griffin Kessler, TJ Thomas, Coleman Bland, and Peyton Mathis, the Wildcats are posed for success in the coming seasons.
Lexington juniors and seniors stepped up the intensity and all 6 made the finals. Chance Kilcrease at 145 and Walker Anderson at heavyweight were 1st place finishers. Chance was outstanding, pinning 3 and scoring a major decision in another without getting scored on in the entire tournament. Chance has over 150 career wins and will now compete for a state individual title.
Isaac Manning (160), Will Frazier (170), Evan Clark (182), and Torren Hicks (220) all finished 2nd.
The Wildcats finished the Lower State tournament with the most team points. The qualifiers will compete in the state tournament this weekend.
