The Lexington boys made it back-to-back blowouts on Wildcat hardwood Friday evening. The opener was a 53 point margin as the Lady Wildcats dismantled the Lady Eagles of Chapin, 86-33. In the game Senior Olivia Thompson passed the 1700 career point plateau.
There were more records in the nightcap. By virtue of a dominating 68-39 win, the Wildcats are now 21-0, a new school mark. With just over 3 minutes left in the 1st half, a Mason Carver-made free throw propelled him into the elusive 1000-point club. And the win was the 629th career win for Coach Bailey Harris’ career who now has a .709 winning rate over 32 seasons.
Chapin kept the game close in the early going, but Lexington blew it open in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Eagles 18-3 with a stifling defense, good ball control, and a balanced scoring attack of three 2’s, two 3’s, and 6 of 7 from the free throw line.
With 29 points, Mason Carver’s career total now stands at 1013 with 5 regular season games remaining. Will Edwards contributed 9 points. The Cats also got 9 from Bradley Foulks and 8 from Jonathan Corley.
Next up is a critical matchup against the co-Region 5 leader River Bluff Gators at Lexington on Tuesday.
