Boys Varsity Basketball · Cats Extend Streak To 18 with Win in Region Opener!

The school-record streak now stands at 18 after a Region 5 battle at White Knoll.  But after building a big lead, the Cats had to respond late and hold on for a 58-49 victory, their 18th straight.

Lexington was on fire immediately after the opening tip, with a 12-0 run to open the game.  They took an 18-point margin, 39-21, to the halftime locker room.  But with a 14-1 run in the 2nd half, the Timberwolves had closed the gap to 7 points.  The Cats answered by outscoring White Knoll 15-11 in the final frame, as they hit key shots and showed good ball control.  In the final 2 minutes of play, they slowed the quick pace down and sealed the win in the Region 5 opener.

With a record of 18-0, 1-0, Lexington will play a non-region game on the road against a tough Pelion Panther team on Thursday then will play 4 critical home games over the following 2 weeks beginning with Dutch Fork on Tuesday.

Mason Carver led all scorers with 24 points as he inched closer to the “1000-Point Club.”  His career total now stands at 947.
