At Presbyterian College’s Templeton Gym on Saturday evening, the Clinton Red Devils gave Lexington a challenge in the first half of play. The Wildcats held a 4 point edge after the 1st quarter and the margin was just 7 at the half. Clinton’s star guards, JD Payne and Ahmari Bates had accounted for 22 of the team’s 24 points with 12 and 10 respectively.
Lexington’s defense shut out Payne and surrendered just 4 points to Bates in the 2nd half. The Cats netted 33 points to just 15 for Clinton and claimed another dominating win, 64-39.
The victory marked the 17 consecutive “W.” It was also the 625th for Coach Bailey Harris, who was recognized before the game as a Presbyterian basketball alum.
