Make that 14. With their semifinal victory at the Hilton Sandestin Beach, the Wildcats have won the first 14 games of the 2018-19 season. In a physical contest, they outlasted the Highlands High School Highlanders from Kentucky, 57-49. The tournament final will have Lexington meeting the Cookeville (TN) Cavaliers on New Years Eve at 7:00 PM CST. Cookeville advanced by defeating Knox Central, a top-10 team from Kentucky.
Shortly after the tipoff, the Cats found themselves down 8-0, but partly on the strength of one-on-one pull up jumpers from Mason Carver, they rallied to a 27-20 halftime lead. Highlands narrowed the margin to 3 points at the end of the 3rd, but Lexington outscored the Highlander 18-13 in the final frame for the win.
Ahead on the schedule is a home matchup with the Australian traveling team on January 3rd at 7:30 and a road game against Clinton that will be played at Presbyterian College on Saturday evening, the 5th at 7:00. That game will be broadcast on the Wildcat Sports Net.
