Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Wildcats Host 20th Annual Lake Murray Dam Swim for Drew

September 8th marked the 20th Annual Dam Swim for Drew, hosted by Lexington High School, River Bluff High School and White Knoll High School.

LHS was proud to open the event with Varsity Girls team mate Kristen Smith singing the National Anthem beautifully.

Wildcat Swimming had some dominating finishing times in this 2 mile swim that starts from the Irmo Boat Landing side of Lake Murray, passes the three towers, and concludes on the Lexington side of the Dam at SCE&G Park.

7th Grader Vince White was the first Wildcat to cross the finish line with a time of 47:22! Vince finished the race in 11th place OVERALL and 10th place in the male category out of 123 swimmers! Just as astounding was 8th Grader Nate Halloran who came in right behind Vince with a finish time of 47:27 and a 12th place finish OVERALL!

10th Grader Tucker Hewson came across with a finish time of 48:26, finishing in 18th place OVERALL!

LHS Varsity Girls team mate Halie Stoertz blew away the swim with a finish time of 53:01, finishing in 11th place in the female category out of 138 swimmers!

Senior swimmer Jenna Couture also had an amazing time with a finish of 55:45, finishing 16th out of 138 swimmers in her category!

The Lake Murray Dam Swim for Drew is an event that was started 20 years ago by LHS Swimmers and their Coach to promote boating and swimming safety and to keep the memory of Drew Smith alive.
