Tonight the Wildcats played two very good teams from Charleston. The matches were held at River Bluff HS.
In the first match of the night the Wildcats won in 2 straight sets over Porter Gaud. The scores were 25-16 and 26-24. Senior Maggie Salley led the way with 7 kills and 1 block. Middle Hitter, Natalie Maltry, also had some good kills and a few blocks. Junior setter, Layla Sarvis, did a good job of running the offense while racking up some aces and digs.
In the second match the Wildcats beat Ashley Hall in 3 sets. The scores were 25-23, 24-26, 25-16. Both outside hitters, Maggie Salley and Phoebe Perkins, played well both offensively and defensively. Middle Hitters, Halle Michael and Natalie Maltry contributed both with kills and blocks. After winning the first set the Wildcats went down 9-20. After fighting back with good serving from Maggie Salley and some great digs from libero Hannah Hammett, Lexington tied it up at 21. It was back and forth until the end where Ashley Hall pulled it out. In the third set the Wildcats took control and never relinquished it. Maggie Salley and Phoebe Perkins took over with their offense and strong hitting.
The Wildcats go to 13-4 and will start Region play next week at White Knoll on Tuesday.
