In an elimination game on Monday evening, both Lexington and Summerville entered the 6th inning tied at 1 run each.
In the top of the inning, the Lady Wildcats quickly retired the Green Waves on 2 strikeouts and a flyout. The home half began with a walk to Samantha Montgomery but the Lexington pinch runner was picked off 1st base. A fly ball was caught for out number 2. Then the fireworks began. Skyler Logsdon singled and scored on an Ashley Causey double to give the Cats the lead. After Jessica Senn walked, Jaci Fleming reached on an error allowing Causey to cross the plate. Catcher Sarah Gordon followed with a single to load the bases and Denaed Santini was hit by a pitch, forcing in a run to make it 4-1. Lexington increased their lead to 5-1 as Jaci Fleming scored from 3rd base on a passed ball.
After a leadoff single, Summerville was sent packing on 3 consecutive outs.
The Lady Wildcats are now 18-8 and will host the Region 5 champion White Knoll Timberwolves on Wednesday at 6:30 in another elimination game. The winner will advance to the Lower State Championship on Friday at Ashley Ridge.
