Boys Varsity Soccer · Playoff Win: Boy’s Soccer 3, Fort Dorchester 2!

In Round 1 of the 5A State Playoffs, Lexington stormed to a 3-0 lead and hung on at Fort Dorchester to win 3-2.  The victory allows the Wildcats to host a 2nd Round match on Thursday.  For the 4th time this season, they will face Spring Valley who upset Carolina Forest.  All 3 previous meetings were settled after overtime periods and penalty kicks.

With 12 minutes left in the first half, Sam Pent scored off a pass from Jay Urbates to break the scoreless tie.  The Cats increased their lead with 7 minutes left in the first on a Jaxon Keene goal after a foul was called in the box and his shot from just outside the arc found the net.  Ben Mayer made it 3-0 as time ran out in the first half.

Fort Dorchester attempted a comeback with 2 quick goals midway through the second half but the surge was not enough as the win went to Lexington.  They move on in the state tournament with an overall record of 17-9.
