For the fourth consecutive season, the Lexington Lady Wildcats have won a Region Championship. On Friday evening at Dutch Fork, the Cat defense shut out the Foxes who did not manage a single shot on goal.
Lexington started the scoring at 15:04 when Mary Katherine Waters got the first of her three goals off an assist from sophomore Kellyn Motley. She followed with an unassisted goal just over five minutes later to give the Cats a 2-0 lead as the first half came to a close.
At 5:10 of the second half, Megan Classer found the net with an assist credited to Brooke Power. Waters’ third goal came at 7:17. Classer picked up the assist on the fourth and final score.
Lexington has now won twelve in a row and are 14-1 overall with a 10-0 Region record. They will play on Tuesday at Blythewood, then host Chapin on Friday.
