Boys Varsity Baseball · Big Weekend: Cats Win 2 Region Games!


Lexington Baseball picked up two important Region 5 wins this weekend, shutting out Spring Valley at home on Friday and outlasting Blythewood in extras on Saturday afternoon.  They are now 5-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in Region play.  Up next for the Cats is Irmo with an away game Tuesday and a home contest on Friday at 7:00 PM.

With the score tied at 5 in the top of the eighth Noah Huthmaker delivered a 2-run single to put the Cats ahead.  In the bottom of the inning, reliever Jake Wisniewski got the game-winning strikeout with the bases loaded to seal the 7-5 win.

The Wildcats got off to a 1-0 lead in the first when Chase Crouch singled in Tristan Allen.  Blythewood answered with 5 in the home half of the third inning on 5 singles, a walk, and a Lexington error.  Lexington chipped away with a solo homer by David Cromer in the fourth, a 2-run homer from Chase Crouch in the fifth, and another score in the sisth when Cal Herndon scored on a sacrifice fly.

Nathan Roof got the start for Lexington while Jake Wisnewski notched the win.

Andrew Romanoli threw a gem at home on Friday, shutting out Spring Valley 4-0.  “Romo” went all 7 innings, allowing just 4 hits and striking out 8, and picking up the win.

Lexington broke a scoreless tie in the third inning when William Crouch scored on a Viking error.  The Wildcats posted 3 more in the fourth.  John Carter doubled in Chase Crouch.  Carter later scored on a passed ball.  With two outs, courtesy runner, William Crouch scored on another passed ball.
