Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Olivia Breaks All-Time Scoring Record in Wildcat Win!

With 14 points Friday evening at Blythewood, Lexington junior Olivia Thompson became the top scorer in Lady Wildcat history.  Her current total of 1314 surpassed Erica Mayshar’s 1304.  Mayshar played from 2004-2007.  With the remainder of this season and her entire senior year to go, Olivia has a shot at Shaq Roland’s 1772 career points, the best of any Wildcat basketball player.

The Bengals posed a challenge for Lexington in the first half, trailing the Cats by just 2 points at the break.  But the Wildcats controlled the second half 33-17 and picked up the important Region win by a 64-46 final.

Alanna Langford scored 4 twos and 2 threes and was a perfect 5 of 5 from the line for a total of 19 points.  Brooke Foulks had her career-best scoring night with 18 points.  Olivia Thompson added 14 while the Cats got 5 from Ayanna Langford and 4 from both Chelsea Davis and Ellie Chmura.

The Lady Wildcats are now 14-9 overall and 6-5 in Region play.

It was a tall task for the Lexington boys as they faced the 5A #1 ranked Bengals on their home floor in the nightcap.  The Blythewood speed and rebounding would be too much as they posted a 20-point second quarter and kept their record perfect at 10-0 in Region 5 with a 66-40 win.  The Wildcats dropped to 14-10 overall and 4-7 in the Region.

Mason Carver led the Cats with 14 points.  Lexington got 7 points each from Bradley Foulks and Tyler Reed, 6 from Joseph Long, 3 from Jonathan Corley, and 2 from Gavin Singleton.

Wildcat teams will host White Knoll on Friday for Senior Night.  The girls will tip at 6:00 PM with the boys to follow.
