The Lexington boys have advanced to the championship game of the Lake Murray Tipoff after defeating CA Johnson, Airport, and Chapin this week. They will face River Bluff who also won 3 straight, besting Pelion, Strom Thurmond, and Columbia.
The game is scheduled for Friday at 4:00 PM at Lexington High School.
At the end of the first quarter on Monday evening, the Wildcats led 26-5 over the Hornets of CA Johnson. They increased the margin to 42-9 at the half and breezed to a 68-26 win. All Wildcat players saw significant playing time in the game. Mason Carver led Lexington scorers with 22 points while Jack Vandergeest added 12.
On Tuesday, Lexington broke away from a talented Airport team in the second quarter with a 23-11 surge after a quick start by the Eagles. The Cats got the win 64-46 with the help of 18 points from Mason Carver and 10 from Bradley Foulks.
It was another strong second quarter on Wednesday that gave Lexington a commanding lead en route to a 71-55 victory over Chapin. The Eagles took a 19-16 lead after one quarter of play, but the Cats controlled the game from there. Mason Carver again paced the Wildcat scoring with 28 points. Tyler Reed totaled 18. Jack Vandergeest dropped 9 points and Jonathan Corley added 8.
So far in the tournament, Mason Carver has scored 68 points, a 22.7 average per game.
The three wins increased Coach Bailey Harris’ win total to 597 as he begins his 31st season as head coach.
