On Tuesday evening, with a convincing 8-3 win over White Knoll, the Lady Wildcats improved to 17-2 overall and finished 12-0 in Region 5.
In the 20th minute of the first half, Mary Katherine Waters broke a scoreless match with a shot for goal. She was assisted by Julia Gherardi. In less than 8 minutes the Cats added 2 more, an unassisted score by Brooke Power and a goal off the foot of Jessica Fedorka. Brooke Power was credited with the assist.
A White Knoll score late in the half made the score 3-1 in favor of the Wildcats at the halftime break.
In the second half, the Lexington offense exploded for 5 goals, starting at 1:52 with Megan Classer finding the net. In the 6th minute, Brooke Power got her second of the night off an assist from Mary Katherine Waters. Five minutes later, it was Waters for the score. She was assisted by Julia Gherardi.
After a White Knoll goal in the 12th minute to make the score 6-2, another shot from Megan Classer got by the keeper. It was her second of the evening and the 95th of her Wildcat career. She was assisted by Emma Grace Powers. The 8th and final score for Lexington came from Jessica Fedorka, her second of the match. She was assisted by Hailey Schopp.
White Knoll got on the board again as time ran out and the final was 8-3, Lexington’s 14th win in a row. They will face AC Flora at Wildcat Stadium on Thursday at 6:00 PM for Senior Night.
