Lexington entered the bottom of the 7th inning with a 6-1 lead on Tuesday evening at Blythewood in a key Region 5 game. Jon Scott had pitched a 1 hitter through 6 innings. After 2 hit batsmen, 2 walks, and 2 Wildcat errors, it was a 6-4 game. Noah Davis, the third pitcher in the inning was able to force a groundout and a popout to end the game and secure the win.
Blythewood will visit Wildcat Field on Friday at 7:00 to complete the series.
Lexington got on the board with 2 outs in the third inning when Noah Huthmaker hit a 3-run homer to left field, the first in his Wildcat career.
Blythewood answered with a run in the home half of the fourth on a bases-loaded fielder’s choice.
In the fifth, Cole Lemack’s 2-out single scored Josh Asbill to make the score 4-1.
Jared Kirven led off the Wildcat sixth with a single. Trevor Daniel came in to run for Kirven and stole second on a 2-0 count. Chase Crouch doubled to center, scoring Daniel. Crouch later scored on an RBI single by Dalton Lansdowne.
John Scott was credited with the win, pitching 6 1/3 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 1 hit while striking out 9 and walking 2. Alex Mack Jacobs and Noah Davis relieved Scott with Davis picking up the save.
With the victory, Lexington improved to 11-5 and is 6-3 in region games.
