Girls Junior Varsity Softball, Girls Varsity Softball · Hot Bats, 1-Hit Pitching Beat Blythewood!

On their home field Tuesday evening, the Lady Wildcats jumped on the Lady Bengals of Blythewood with 3 quick runs in the 1st inning.  One-hit pitching by Allie Light allowed Lexington to cruise to a 7-1 region win.

After a Blythewood error to lead off the Wildcat 1st, Denaud Santini doubled, followed by a single from Saige Stanley and Jaci Fleming crossed home with the first run of the game.  Abby Welch reached on a fielder’s choice.  Allie Light’s single to center knocked in Stanley and a single by Mackenzie Carver scored Welch.  After 1, Lexington held a 3-0 lead.

Jaci Fleming scored again in the 2nd inning after singling to centerfield then being driven home on McKenzie Kaiser’s RBI groundout.

In the Lexington 3rd inning, Abby Welch was hit by a pitch.  Allie Light followed with a single.  After a sacrifice moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd, Ashley Jacoby doubled to left, scoring Welch.  The Wildcats scored again on a Blythewood error and the lead was 6-0.

Blythewood’s only run came in the 4th inning after a Lexington error and a double, their only hit of the game.

Lexington added a final run in the 6th inning on a walk, single, and sacrifice fly.

Allie Light went all the way in the circle for the Lady Wildcats.  She gave up 1 unearned run on only 1 hit while striking out 2.

Lexington will play a non-region game at Gilbert on Thursday at 7:00.  They will host White Knoll next Tuesday at 7:15.
