On Friday at the Lady Wildcat Invitational, Lexington was defeated by Gilbert and River Bluff. The outcomes were much different Saturday as the Cats won three times.
First up was North Davidson. The Lady Knights got the first score of the game in the 2nd inning with a leadoff homer. In the Lexington 4th, Abby Welch singled home McKenzie Kaiser. One batter later, Megan Mazzei scored on a line drive single from Aleah Waters. The following inning, the Lady Wildcats scored twice on passed balls. Kaiser added another run when she crossed home on an Autumn Garling RBI single. Lexington went on to win the game 5-2.
In an afternoon game, James Island was shut out by Wildcat pitching and managed just 1 hit as Lexington erupted for 10 runs on 9 hits. The Cats scored 5 times in the 1st, 3 times in the 3rd, and twice in the 4th. Samantha Montgomery has 2 hits, a single and a double, and scored 2 runs. Saige Stanley went 2 for 3. She hit a homerun and scored 3 times. The final score was 10-0, and with the win, Lexington advanced to the Bronze Championship against Spring Valley.
Down 4-2, Lexington posted 6 runs in the 4th inning. The highlight was a 3 run homerun off the bat of Denaud Santini. The Lady Wildcats got 3 more runs in the 6th inning on a walk, hit batsman, passed ball, single, and double. Lexington earned an 11-6 win, slugging 13 hits against 11 by Spring Valley. The Wildcats beat the Vikings for the 2nd time in 3 days.
With the 3 wins on Saturday, Lexington is now 4-2 and will play again at River Bluff on Tuesday evening.
