On Friday at White Knoll the Cats and Wolves were locked in a 9-9 game midway through the first quarter. Then Lexington began to pull away. Darius Bryant hit a 3 pointer, his first of 10 on the evening. After a White Knoll score and a successive foul, Mason Carver was good on both shots from the free throw line. Then Chase Neuberger got a steal and dropped in a layup. On the next Wildcat possession, Carver was again fouled and again made both free throws as the quarter came to a close with Lexington holding an 18-10 lead.
The Timberwolves weren’t done yet as they drew within 4 points, 27-23 with 4:10 left until halftime. But from that point, it was all Lexington as they quickly put the game on ice. Bradley Foulks stole an errant White Knoll pass and got it to Darius Bryant who was good from 3. On the next Cat possession, Foulks was fouled while shooting and made both buckets. After a Timberwolf score, Bryant drained a 3 pointer, then did it again. With 4 seconds left, Bryant tried on yet another but was fouled and made all three free throws. Suddenly, the Wildcats had an 18 point, 48-30 halftime lead.
It was more of the same in the second half. Effective shooting, strong rebounding, and good ball control propelled Lexington to an 87-60 win. It was their 20th win against 6 losses. The Wildcats finished with a Region record of 8-4, earlier splitting games with both Irmo and Dutch Fork but losing twice to Blythewood.
It was a record setting night for Darius Bryant on Friday. His 10 three-pointers in a single game is a new school record. His 42 points also set a new scoring mark. Bryant has contributed 632 points so far this season, an average of 24 per game. He now stand second in all-time scoring at Lexington High School with 1586 points.
