Playing a Region 5 game is always challenging, especially when you play shorthanded against a top-tier team.
Lexington entered Friday’s contest against Blythewood without the team’s leading rebounder Caleb Shackleford, who was attending his father’s funeral in North Carolina. Add to that Tyler Reed, who missed his 5th game after undergoing ACL repair surgery 2 weeks ago.
After the opening tip, Blythewood stormed out to a 20-8 lead. Coach Harris and his team got back on track playing the Bengals tight the rest of the way. The visitors dominated the boards and took advantage of second and third chance shots en route to a 61-45 win.
Darius Bryant was the high scorer in the game with 21 points. Both Keith Matthews and Robert Braswell had 10 points for the Bengals.
Lexington is now 19-6 overall and 7-4 in Region games. They wrap up the regular season at White Knoll next Friday evening.
