Before Tuesday night, the Lady Wildcats were averaging 52 points a game. A combination of Irmo’s defense forcing low percentage shots and some key misses when they had better looks resulted in Lexington’s lowest point production of the season.
Both teams started cold from the field and at the end of 1 quarter it was Irmo 8, Lexington 6. The Cats were outscored 14-4 in the second quarter as the Jackets took a 22-10 lead to the halftime break. From there, they pulled away and stung the Cats with a 52-27 final.
The Wildcats were led by sophomore Olivia Thompson’s 16 points.
Lexington drops to 9-11 overall and are 3-5 in Region games. They will play at River Bluff this Friday at 6:00 PM. The ladies earned a 23 point victory when they faced the Gators at home in December.
