Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Boys Swim To Region Title! Girls 3rd!

Wildcat Boys Varsity Swimming had reason to celebrate on Saturday as they reclaimed their Region 5 Championship title in Augusta, topping tough opponents River Bluff and Spring Valley, by a score of  230 – 201 – 190. The Girls, with added depth from a year ago, swam well, placing third in a close battle for 2nd with Spring Valley, 164-169. River Bluff captured the girls’ title.

Individual Region Champions for the Wildcats were: Maggie Halloran: 200 and 500 freestyles, Austin Rich: 500 freestyle, and JJ Hardy: 50 and 100 freestyles. Riley Hardy clinched All-Region honors with 2nd place finishes in the 50 and 100 free and Austin Rich clinched All-Region honors in the 200 free.

The relay teams were solid on both sides. The Girls and Boys 200 freestyle relays and the Girls 400 free relay finished 2nd for All-Region honors, The Boys 400 free relay team of Preston Mazzei, Austin Rich, Seth Kurtz, and JJ Hardy swam a season best time to clinch a Region 5 title in their premier event.

On Friday at 6 pm, LHS State Team qualifiers will compete at the Carolina Natatorium for their State Championships.  Good luck and swim fast, Wet Wildcats!
