Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Swim Teams Split With River Bluff

The rivalry between the Wildcats and Gators lived up to its hype Wednesday night at the Country Club of Lexington for the last regular dual meet of the season.

Seniors Nathaniel Fournel, Seth Kurtz, Austin Rich, Kyle Williams, Jesse Zhao, Jason Le, Alexandra Prost, Rebecca Winiaski, Victoria Randolph, and Maggie Halloran were recognized for their contributions to the Wildcats by Coach Foster Matthews, Coach Josh Stepp, and Mrs. Melissa Rawl.
The girls fought hard but fell to a 3-2 record by a score of 107-63.  The boys delivered an unforgettable performance with a 93-77 victory over their archrivals, capping the regular season with an unbeaten 5-0 record.
Maggie Halloran, Austin Rich, and JJ Hardy went unbeaten against the Gators in their individual events. Preston Mazzei clinched 1st in the 100 butterfly by a 3 second margin.
The Wildcat men also won both of their freestyle relays, dominating the 400 free by 14 seconds, and edging out River Bluff by 0.83 seconds in a thriller 200 free relay to the delight of the Wildcat fans.
The Wet Wildcats will compete at Region meet in Augusta on Saturday afternoon. Next week, qualifying Wildcat swimmers will compete at the SC High School League State Championships at USC on Friday, October 7.
