The State Championship Track and Field competition began Friday afternoon at Spring Valley High School. On that evening, the Lexington Boy’s 4×800 Relay team of Trey McClary, Dan Bell, Bradford Smith, and Will Bugeski scored an impressive finishing time of 8:00.84. It was good enough for 4th place, an All-State performance.
On Day 2, more Wildcats finished in the top tiers of their respective events:
Boy’s 400m: 4th Place – Bradford Smith (senior) 49.15
Boy’s 800m: 3rd Place – Trey McClary (senior) 1:56.76
Boy’s Pole Vault: 6th Place – Aiden Taylor (junior) 13-06.00
Girl’s Shot Put: 7th Place – Charlotte Daniels (junior) 35-02.00
For the Wildcat Boys, the points added up to a 12th place team finish of the 44 teams scoring points. Dutch Fork won the State Championship. Wando was 2nd followed by Northwestern in 3rd. Stratford and West Ashley tied for 4th.
With only one event qualifier, the Lexington girls finished back in the pack. Wando won the Girl’s State Championship followed by J.L. Mann, Riverside, Summerville, and Ridge View in the top 5 of 33 teams scoring points.
