Lexington completed their regular season at Richland Northeast on Thursday night with a 4-1 victory to improve their record to 11-12.
The Cats got on the board in a hurry on a Sam Plumer shot at 2:25. RNE answered at 25:43 with the tying goal. The match went to halftime knotted at 1 apiece.
The scoring was all Lexington in the second half. At 17:55 senior Hunter Behling broke the tie, scoring on a header. Sam Plumer got the assist as the Wildcats went up 2-1.
At 23:45 Lexington took advantage of a penalty kick as senior goalie Andrew Erlich shot it past the keeper and it was 3-1 in favor of the blue and gold.
Junior Adam Baker shot for an unassisted score at 31:51 and the final was 4-1.
Lexington enters the playoffs with a daunting task ahead of them. They will travel to Wando on Wednesday to meet the Warriors. At 19-0, they are the USA Today’s #1 ranked team in the country.
