On Friday evening, Lexington entered the seventh inning down 3-2 in a key Region game at South Aiken. They scored three runs on two hit batsmen and two singles to post their 4th consecutive win and sweep the Thoroughbreds in Region play.
Winning pitcher Rhett Bane worked all seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out four.
The Wildcats got on the board in the top of the first inning with two outs when Brice Kirven singled and was driven home on a Bubba Bowers double.
South Aiken evened the score in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of a Lexington error.
The lead swung back to Lexington in the fifth. Will Alewine led off the inning with a walk and scored on a Cole Lemacks two out double to put the Cats up 2-1.
South Aiken answered with two runs in the home half of the fifth after two walks and a two out double to retake the lead 3-2.
Neither team scored in the sixth inning.
In the Wildcat seventh, pinch hitter Peyton Evans led off and was hit by a pitch. Two batters later Cole Lemacks drew a HBP. Both runners advanced into scoring position on a South Aiken passed ball. Dalton Lansdowne delivered a bunt single that scored Evans to tie the game at 3. Lemacks crossed the plate three pitches later on a passed ball. A Bubba Bowers fielder’s choice advanced Lansdowne to third base where he scored on a Thoroughbred error to make it 5-3.
South Aiken went three up, three down in the bottom of the seventh and Lexington improved their overall season record to 11-8 with an even 4-4 record in Region games.

The Wildcats play Tuesday at White Knoll then return home for two games next week. Wednesday night is Senior Recognition Night when the Cats host Blythewood. White Knoll visits on Friday. First pitch for all three games is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
