After playing into overtime for 4 straight matches, the Lexington Boy’s won the Region opener in regulation, defeating North Augusta 3-1 on the road.
Football star Trey Mitchell recorded his first soccer score with 2 minutes remaining in the first half to give Lexington a 1-0 lead at intermission.
With 15 minutes remaining in the game, Hunter Behling followed his own shot to score for the second match in a row and give Lexington a 2 goal lead.
Five minutes later, North Augusta got their lone goal on a corner play, but the Wildcats followed with a score off the foot of Adam Baker to make it a 3-1 final.
Lexington is now 6-3 overall in the 2016 season and is 1-0 in region play. They are in action again at home on Tuesday evening when they face River Bluff.
