It was the bottom of the 5th inning on a cold and windy evening at Wildcat Field.  David Jacobs drove a sharp line drive to left that allowed Dalton Lansdowne to score.  It was the 2nd run of the inning and the 10th of the game, and put an early end to the Region contest against Irmo.

Jon Scott upped his record to 2-0 as he shut out the Yellowjackets, surrendering just 2 hits while striking out 8.

Lexington put up 2 runs in the home half of the first on 2 singles, a base on balls, a fielder’s choice, and an RBI flyout.

In the 3rd inning, with 2 outs and none on, the Wildcat bats got hot.  Cole Lemacks singled to center.  Chase Crouch reached on an error.  Ryan DeRienzo walked to load the bases.  Austin Muse’s fly to center carried in the wind and was good enough for a double and 3 RBI’s.  Two more doubles, by Josh Asbill and Dalton Lansdowne produced 2 scores.  Lexington picked up their 6th run of the inning when Peyton Evans singled home Dalton Lansdowne.

The final was Lexington 10 runs on 12 hits and Irmo 0 runs on 2 hits.

With the win, Lexington improves to 6-1 overall and has a perfect 3-0 Region 5 record.  They will play at Irmo on Friday evening with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM.
