Wet Wildcats Ready To Make A Splash

In 2004, Lexington boys and girls won their first Regional swim titles.  It became an annual tradition.  10 in a row for the boys and 9 straight for the girls.  After a 3 year dry spell, Coach Foster Mathews and his Wildcat swimmers will work to get back to their winning ways when the 2016 season begins on August 24.

Boys To Watch

Austin Rich, Senior: All-Region, 3x team MVP, finished 12th at the ’15 State Meet in the 200 Freestyle and 9th in the 500 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams.

JJ Hardy, Freshman: All-Region, 2015 Co-MVP, finished 13th at the ’15 State Meet in the 200 Freestyle and 4th in the 100 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams.

Seth Kurtz, Senior: All-Region, will swim Backstroke, 200 Individual Medley, and 200/500 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 400 Freestyle Relay team.

Preston Mazzei, Junior: All-Region, will swim Butterfly and 100 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 200 Freestyle Relay team.

Taylor Montgomery, Junior: All-Region in the 100 Breaststroke

Kyle Williams, Senior: finished 14th at the ’15 State Meet in the 200 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 400 Freestyle Relay team.

Girls To Watch

Maggie Halloran, Senior: All-Region, 3x team MVP, finished 6th at the ’15 State Meet in the 500 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 200 Freestyle Relay team.

Jenna Couture, Sophomore: All-Region in the 50 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 200 Freestyle Relay team.

Emma Jeter, Junior: All-Region in the 50 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 200 Freestyle Relay team.

Riley Hardy, Freshman: All-Region in the 100 Freestyle, part of the 2015 LHS State 200 Freestyle Relay team.

New Season

Both the Boys and Girls begin the competitive season on August 24th when they travel to face Dutch Fork.  The Wildcats will then compete in the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday August 27 at the Augusta Aquatic Center.

Two home meets are on the 2016 schedule.  Lexington will host Irmo on September 8 and River Bluff on September 28 at the Country Club of Lexington.  The Regional Championship meet s scheduled for October 1 at the Irmo YMCA.  The complete schedules can be found at lexingtonwildcats.com on each of the team’s web pages.  Be sure to select the 2016-17 season.
